1874, 1914, 1918, 1975 Quotes!

This audio teaching exposes the false prophecies of the Watchtower and what Jehovah's Witnesses have been taught about their history.  The Watchtower has given many false prophecies such as 1874, 1914, 1918, 1975, and many others.  Below are quotes from Watchtower predications, dates, prophecies that did not come to pass and are by Biblical and Watchtower definition false prophecies.  The purpose of this audio is to explain in detail what the Watchtower claims about being a prophet, the lies of the Watchtower, and to help Jehovah's Witnesses who care about truth see there is hope.  If you have any questions about this please let us know.  Below are the quotes from the audio teaching from the years of 1874, 1914, 1918, and 1975.

Watchtower says to Examine Religions for truth:

“We need to examine, not only what we personally believe, but also what is taught by any religious organization with which we may be associated.  Are its teachings in full harmony with God’s Word, or are they based on the traditions of men? If we are lovers of the truth, there is nothing to fear from such an examination.” (The Truth That Leads To Eternal Life, 1968, page 13)

“Reasonable persons agree that the only fair method is to examine the evidence on both sides, both for and against a disputed theory. That is how one arrives at the truth.” (Awake, Oct. 22, 1973, page 6)

“Can there be false religion? It is not a form of religious persecution for anyone to say and to show that another religion is false. It is not religious persecution for an informed person to expose publicly a certain religion as being false, thus allowing persons to see the difference between false religion and true religion.” (Watchtower, Nov. 15, 1963, page 688)

Watchtower Claims Jehovah's Witnesses to be a Prophet of God:

"So, does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come?...These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet?...This 'prophet' was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses...Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a 'prophet' of God. It is another thing to prove it. The only way that this can be done is to review the record. What does it show?" (Watchtower, April 1, 1972, page 197)

"No one can properly understand the work of God as this present time who does not realize that since 1874, the time of the Lord's return in power, there has been a complete change in God's operations." (The Watchtower, September 15, 1922, page 278)

Watchtower Prophecy Facts:  1914  Armageddon is Coming!

"We see no reason for changing the figures - nor could we change them if we would. They are, we believe, God's dates, not ours. But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the date for the beginning, but for the end of the time of trouble." (Watchtower Reprints, July 15, 1894, page 1672)

"The date of the close of that 'battle' is definitely marked in Scripture as October, 1914. It is already in progress, its beginning dating from October, 1874." (Watchtower Reprints, January 15, 1892, page1355)

"In this chapter we will present the Bible evidence proving that the full end of the times of the Gentiles, i.e., the full end of their lease of dominion, will be reached in A.D. 1914; and that date will be the farthest limit of the rule of imperfect men." (The Time Is at Hand, Studies in the Scriptures, Volume 2, 1907 ed., pages 76-77)

"The 'battle of the great day of God Almighty' (Rev. 16:14), which will end in A.D. 1914 with the complete overthrow of earth's present rulership, is already commenced." (The Time Is At Hand, Studies in the Scriptures, Volume 2, page 101, 1907)

Watchtower Prophecy Facts:  1918

"The people who are the strength of Christendom shall be cut off in the brief but terribly eventful period beginning in 1918 A.D. A third part are 'burned with fire in the midst of the city.' Fire symbolizes destruction. One large part of the adherents of ecclesiasticism will die from pestilence and famine. (Deut. 32:24.) After 1918 the people supporting churchianity will cease to be its supporters, be destroyed as adherents, by the spiritual pestilence of errors abroad, and by the famine of the Word of God among them. The Sword of the Spirit (Eph. 6:17), which is the Word of God, will be wielded in the hands of 'Present Truth' believers in such a manner as to cause conscientious supporters of ecclesiasticism to cease to be supporters." (The Finished Mystery (SS-7), 1917 ed., p. 398-399)

"Also, in the year 1918, when God destroys the churches wholesale and the church members by millions, it shall be that any that escape shall come to the works of Pastor Russell to learn the meaning of the downfall of 'Christianity.'" (The Finished Mystery (SS-7), 1917 ed., p. 485)

Watchtower Prophecy Facts:  1975

"THE fact that fifty-four years of the period called the 'last days' have already gone by is highly significant.  It means that only a few years, at most, remain before the corrupt system of things dominating the earth is destroyed by God...Even if we presume that youngsters 15 years of age would be perceptive enough to realize the import of what happened in 1914, it would still make the youngest of 'this generation' nearly 70 years old today.  So the great majority of the generation to which Jesus was referring has already passed away in death.  The remaining ones are approaching old age.  And remember, Jesus said that the end of this wicked world would come before that generation passed away in death.  This, of itself, tells us that the years left before the foretold end comes cannot be many.  There is another way that helps confirm the fact that we are living in the final few years of this "time of the end." (Dan. 12:9) The Bible shows that we are nearing the end of a full 6,000 years of human history. What significance does this have?...Revelation chapter 20, verse 6, shows that God's heavenly kingdom will rule over the earth for one thousand years after the end of this system of things.  That millennium will bring a sabbathlike res to the earth and all those then inhabiting it...How fitting it would be for God, following this pattern, to end man's misery after six thousand years of human rule and follow it with His glorious Kingdom rule for a thousand years...How can it be determined when 6,000 years of human history will end?  According to reliable Bible chronology, Adam and Eve were created in 4026 .C.E...This would leave only seven more years from the autumn of 1968 to complete 6,000 full years of human history.  That seven-year period will evidently finish in the autumn of the year 1975." (Awake!, October 8, 1968, p. 13-14)

"It is very appropriate for God to bring an end to man's rule...Those who submit to God's requirements will be protected by him through the coming Armageddon destruction of this system of things...After the end of this system of things, then what?  A new day will dawn for the human family.  Armageddon survivors will begin to enjoy all the benefits of a righteous new order...WHEN God puts an end to this present system of things shortly, it will pave the way for his clean new order for earth.  Armageddon will rid the earth of war, violence, crime and injustice.  Divisive governments, religions, and economic systems will be gone forever." (Awake! October 8, 1968, p. 16-17)

"There is no substitute for this taking in of Bible knowledge.  Your hope to gain eternal life depends upon it.  'This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.' (John 17:3) Yes, the only way to survive the end of this wicked world and to gain life in God's new order is by doing God's will...The end of this wicked system is approaching rapidlyIt is much later than most people realizeHence, there is no time to lose in working for survival... Those who refuse to listen to God will not survive the end of this system.  The Great Judge of all mankind now causes his wisdom to cry out and give warning...Do you want to be 'left over' in the earth when this wicked system is annihilated soon at Armageddon? (Daniel 2:44) Then begin taking in knowledge of God right away.  How?  By a systematic study of the Bible with those who love God's Word and who live by it.  Write to Awake!  Magazine and request such a Bible study in the privacy of your own home.  A qualified minister, one of the Jehovah's witnesses, will be sent to show the most practical and beneficial way of understanding your Bible...You have no time to lose in making friends with God, because time is rapidly running out for this wicked system of thingsIt is very close to plunging into the chasm of Armageddon.  Therefore, take steps quickly to work for survival and for eternal life in God's new order."  (Awake! October 8, 1968, p. 28-29)

"Since we have dedicated ourselves to Jehovah, we want to do his will to the fullest extent possible.  Making some special effort to do more than the usual helps us live up to our dedication.  In view of the short period of time left, we want to do this as often as circumstances permit.  Just think, brothers, there are only about ninety months left before 6,000 years of man's existence on earth is completed. Do you remember what we learned at the assemblies last summer?  The majority of people living today will probably be alive when Armageddon breaks out, and there are no resurrection hopes for those who are destroyed then.  So, now more than ever, it is vital not to ignore that spirit of wanting to do more."  (Kingdom Ministry, March 1968, p. 4)

"It will take more than all men together to put that greatest obstructor of peace out of power over mankind. This the heavenly Jesus Christ will do, for, according to the several names by which he was to be called, he is "The mighty God." This he will do after first doing away with the visible peace obstructors here on earth. (Rev. 19:11 to 20:3) This requires him to be first a Warrior King, reigning in the midst of his earthly enemies, finally subduing them completely, just as foretold by King David in Psalm 110:1-6. He has had to do this because, since the end of the "times of the Gentiles" in the year 1914, the nations and empires of this world have refused to yield over peaceably their earthly kingship to him, even Christendom refusing to do so. (Luke 21:24; Ps. 2:1-6) Till this year, after more than half a century, the nations have refused to do so. What will this mean shortly for all mankind? This: the outbreak of the "war of the great day of God the Almighty" at the world situation called HarMagedon or Armageddon. (Rev. 16:14, 16) That war will remove all human obstructors to peace.  After this taking away of all human and demon obstructors of world peace there will come the reign of the Prince of Peace over all the earth. God's fixed time for this is approaching, and along with it the peace of a thousand years. A thousand years equals a millennium. This reminds us of something said in the aforementioned inaugural speech of the American president on January 20, 1969. He remarked upon the approach of things of interest to Americans and to all Christendom. In the eighth paragraph of his speech the newly sworn-in president said: "Eight years from now America will celebrate its 200th anniversary as a nation. And within the lifetime of most people now living, mankind will celebrate that great new year which comes only once in a thousand years the beginning of the third millennium." The president was referring to A.D. 2001."  (The Watchtower, October 15, 1969, pp. 621-622)

Watchtower Proves they are a False Prophet by their own words:

"True, there have been those in times past who predicted an 'end of the world,' even announcing a specific date. Some have gathered groups of people with them and fled to the hills or withdrawn into their houses waiting for the end. Yet, nothing happened. The 'end' did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. Why? What was missing? Missing was the full measure of evidence required in fulfillment of Bible prophecy. Missing from such people were God's truths and the evidence that he was guiding and using them." (Awake, 1968, page 23)

"Jehovah, the God of the true prophets, will put all false prophets to shame either by not fulfilling the false prediction of such self-assuming prophets or by having His own prophecies fulfilled in a way opposite to that predicted by the false prophets. False prophets will try to hide their reason for feeling shame by denying who they really are." (Paradise Restored to Mankind--By Theocracy, 1972 ed., pages 353-354)

“It is obvious that the true God, who is himself ‘the God of truth’ and who hates lies, will not look with favor on persons who cling to organizations that teach falsehood. (Psalm 31:5; Proverbs 6:16-19; Revelation 21:8) And, really, would you want to be even associated with a religion that had not been honest with you? (Is This Life Are There Is, 1974, page 46)

"There was a measure of disappointment on the part of Jehovah's faithful ones on earth concerning the years 1914, 1918, and 1925, which disappointment lasted for a time. Later the faithful learned that these dates were definitely fixed in the Scriptures; and they also learned to quit fixing dates for the future and predicting what would come to pass on a certain date."  (Vindication I, 1931 ed., p. 338-339)
