Examining Calvinism: "None good, No one is Good"
An Examination of Scripture on Calvinism concerning none good, no one is
good will be for the purpose of showing what the Bible teaches on this
matter, and giving a Biblical response to the misunderstanding of Romans
3:10-18. Calvinism teaches that man has no choice or free will to seek
after God, therefore since man is evil and not good Calvinism rejects man
being able to choice God. This information will be showing what the
Bible teaches about man being called good and doing good.
The Bible says that people "do good"
"and said, "Remember now, O LORD, I beseech You, how I have walked before
You in truth and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in Your
sight." And Hezekiah wept bitterly." (Isaiah 38:3)
"It is good to give thanks to the LORD And to sing praises to Your name, O
Most High;" (Psalms 92:1)
"The merciful man does himself good, But the cruel man does himself harm."
(Proverbs 11:17)
"She does him good and not evil All the days of her life." (Proverbs
31:12)
""Remember now, O LORD, I beseech You, how I have walked before You in
truth and with a whole heart and have done what is good in Your sight."
And Hezekiah wept bitterly." (2 Kings 20:3)
"Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah; and he did what was good, right
and true before the LORD his God." (2 Chronicles 31:20)
""The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil
man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil." (Matthew 12:35)
""Those slaves went out into the streets and gathered together all they
found, both evil and good; and the wedding hall was filled with dinner
guests." (Matthew 22:10)
"but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first
and also to the Greek." (Romans 2:10)
The Scriptures above all have one major thing in common, that is they
show that both men and women did good deeds or actions in their lives.
The reason that I share these Scriptures is to show the teaching of
Calvinism that "there is no one who does good" is just not accurate. Paul
in Romans 3 is addressing "good" as in being without sin. The context of
Romans 3 is dealing with works of the Law for justification or faith in
Christ Jesus for justification. To say that no one does any good period
is clearly wrong.
The Bible calls people "good"
"A good man will obtain favor from the LORD, But He will condemn a man who
devises evil."
(Proverbs 12:2)
"A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, And the
wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous." (Proverbs 13:22)
"It is the same for all. There is one fate for the righteous and for the
wicked; for the good, for the clean and for the unclean; for the man who
offers a sacrifice and for the one who does not sacrifice. As the good man
is, so is the sinner; as the swearer is, so is the one who is afraid to
swear." (Ecclesiastes 9:2)

The Scriptures above show that people were called good, therefore the
belief that there is none who are good is not completely accurate.
People are not good of themselves, we are born into sin, and our flesh
desire the things of sin. But people are called good in the sense of
them choosing right from wrong, turning from the ways of the world to live
for the Lord.
